4 cows stolen in Vidyaranyapuram police station limits

Mysuru: Following a spate of

cattle

thefts reported on the outskirts of the city, thieves have now struck in the very heart of the city. Vidranyapuram police have registered against as yet unknown people on charges of stealing four cows from a cattle shed in Vishweshwarnagar. Meanwhile, city police commissioner A Subramanyeshwar Rao said that cops will launch an investigation into the multiple instances of cattle theft in Mysuru.

Vidranyapuram police said that the thefts occurred between 6.30pm on Friday and 6am the following day. The thieves made away with four cows owned by Vishweshwarnagar resident Mahadev.

Police said that Mahadev had left his cows tied near a vacant site in the locality around 6pm on Friday. He was dismayed to find none of his cows at the site on Saturday morning. After searching for them for an entire day, Mahadev decided to lodge a complaint with the Vidranyapuram police on Sunday.

Police sources said that similar incidents had also been reported in neighbouring Chamarajanagar district. “We are investigating these cases, and analysing them from all possible angles,” an officer said.

Commissioner Rao said thatofficers had been instructed to intensify the investigation into these cases.
