‘Zinta’s statement to be recorded after she lands’
MUMBAI: The police are making arrangements to record actor Preity Zinta’s statement.
Sources said Zinta has conveyed to senior police officers that she would arrive in Mumbai on Sunday morning and that they could record her statement by afternoon.
“Zinta’s return depends on the schedule of her connecting flight from London. She is expected back either on Sunday morning around 11.30am or Sunday night,” said a source.

Zinta has left from the US where she had been staying for the last one week, said sources. The venue where the police plan to record her statement has not yet been fixed by the police. TV channels had already stationed their vans outside Marine Drive police station from Saturday evening. Sources indicated that the police may call Zinta to a different location or visit her home.
An officer of assistant commissioner-rank accompanied by a policewoman will record Zinta’s statement. Under the law, the police need not call a woman complainant or a woman witness to the police station to record her statement; they can take it down at her residence. Later, Zinta is likely to be called by the crime branch for recording her statement in connection with threat calls to Wadia’s office. The row took a turn with the industrialist’s group lodging a complaint with the police that gangster Ravi Pujari has warned it against “harassing” the actor.
