Youth sets self on fire outside Dy SP’s office

MUMBAI: A Virar youth, Vikas Jha, doused himself in kerosene and set himself on fire outside the deputy SP’s office in Vasai on Friday. He claimed he was falsely accused of molestation. Vikas, who suffered over 50% burns, had recently being released from jail in a cheating case.
Last November, he had allegedly fled with Rs 5 lakh banned notes given by a Nalasopara trader to exchange for new ones.
On Thursday, Vikas, his father Vinay and brother Amit were booked by Virar for assaulting and molesting a woman in their Suram Park building.
