Youth beaten up by auto driver
MUMBAI: A week after an auto driver allegedly beat up a 24-year old youth with a baseball bat, the latter is still unconscious. The victim, Vinay Khatri, is admitted to Inlax Hospital in Chembur.
Khatri's uncle Rajesh Thakur said though the operation was successful, Vinay was still unconscious. The doctors who operated upon Khatri, however, said he was out of danger.
Both the victim and the accused, who is said to be a drug addict, are residents of Building No 19 in Chembur Camp.

The incident occurred on November 17, when Khatri had left home for work at 6.45 pm.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Sachin Harish Khanna (30), beat up Khatri for not listening to him. A week earlier, the two had had a tiff.
"When Khatri had reached downstairs, Khanna charged from behind and hit him with a baseball bat,'' Thakur said. "There were several eyewitnesses. However, no one came forward to give an account of the incident to the police.''
"Khanna was angry at Khatri because the latter kept interacting with a friend he had asked Khatri not to speak to,'' said inspector Shailesh Pasalwar, RCF police station.
