You can link Aadhaar to ration card by Sept 30

Mumbai: The central government has extended the last date for linking Aadhaar card with ration card to September 30. Earlier, the deadline was June 30.
Linking of Aadhaar card with ration card is mandatory for those availing benefits under the Antodaya Anna Yojana and Priority Household scheme. Linking can be done at the local fair price shop or at the ration office free of cost. “Those holding white cards need to first get the card digitised and only then will it be linked to the Aadhaar card. Linking the white ration card to the Aadhar card is preferable but not mandatory,” said Netra Mankame, deputy secretary, food and civil supplies department in charge of digitisation.
Maharashtra has 2.56 crore ration card holders of which 1.7 crore are saffron, 62.6 yellow and the rest 22.2 lakh are white card holders. As per the Economic Survey of Maharashtra, 24.4 lakh people are covered under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana wherein the poorest of the poor families get highly subsidized food, and there are 1.3 crore priority households.
