MUMBAI: A class IX student ended his life after hanging himself from the ceiling at police quarters in Naigaon on Thursday. The incident came to light when the teen’s father , a cop, returned from work in the afternoon and found his son hanging in the neighbouring flat, said the police.
Police suspect that Nikhil Gaikwad (14) killed himself after his mother yelled at him for not studying and playing computer games instead.

The boy stepped out of his house and went to the vacant flat next door. “The flat is kept unlocked and is given to newly-recruited personnel in the police on a temporary basis,” said Bhoiwada police inspector Vikram Patil.
Nikhil’s father, Raju, who came back home for lunch saw his son hanging from a hook in the ceiling in the adjoining flat and rushed him to KEM hospital. The teenager was declared dead on arrival.
