Woman with mental health issues falls from 7th floor of a building in Mumbai and dies
Mumbai: A 62-year-old woman who was undergoing treatment for anxiety died after allegedly falling from the seventh floor of a residential building next to MNS chief Raj Thackeray's building in Dadar (W) in the early hours of Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Kamala Keshav Agnihotri and an accidental death case has been registered.According to police, the incident came to light at around 12.30 am, when inspector Pramod Pawar, the night shift supervisor, informed station house officer sub-inspector Rahul Patil that he has received a call from the building. When the police team reached the spot they found the senior woman lying unconscious on the footpath in front of the building. PSI Patil immediately rushed to the spot along with the Shivaji Park Mobile One patrol vehicle.The woman was shifted to Sion Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival at 1.15 am.The building watchman, Varun Singh, identified the woman as Kamala Agnihotri and informed her husband, Keshav Agnihotri.During an inspection of the flat, police observed that the iron wire mesh of the bedroom balcony was detached on one side.
An inquest panchnama was conducted in the presence of two witnesses.In his statement, Keshav Agnihotri said that his wife had been suffering from anxiety and that they had an appointment scheduled with a doctor in Mahim later that day for her treatment. He stated that he had no suspicion or complaint against anyone in connection with the incident.A post-mortem examination has been conducted at Sion Hospital, and police said further inquiry is ongoing.
