Woman stabs her husband's pregnant 'lover'

BHIWANDI: A 25-year-old woman, Aasma Ansari alias Tamanna, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stabbing a pregnant woman in Bhiwandi. Tamanna suspected the victim of having an affair with her husband, Javed. The victim was admitted to J J Hospital and is said to be in a serious condition.
"On Sunday night, Tamanna learnt that Javed was with the pregnant woman.She picked up a knife and went looking for them. On seeing them together, she could not contain her rage and stabbed the woman," said a senior police officer.
Tamanna and Javed (28) reside at Dhamankar Naka in Bhiwandi. Police said the couple has been having several fights due to Javed's alleged relationship with the victim (name withheld to protect her identity), who also lives in the same locality.
On Sunday night, Tamanna confronted Javed and the victim. She told the pregnant woman to leave her husband and threatened her with dire consequences.
Tamanna has been booked on attempt to murder charges and a probe is underway, said Ramesh Jadhav, senior inspector of Nizampura police station.
