MUMBAI: A 22-year-old woman jumped to her death from the top floor of the eight-storey building, where she lived, near Radio Club in Colaba on Tuesday evening. Colaba police officials said depression could be the reason for the suicide.
Sonia Mirchandani, a commerce graduate, was mentally disturbed for the last few weeks because of her father's death.

She stayed with her mother and younger brother at their sixth-floor flat in Gitanjali building.
"I was patrolling the society complex when I heard a loud thud. I went to check and found Sonia's body in a pool of blood,'' a society watchman said. People gathered near the building and she was taken to St George's Hospital where she was declared dead.
"It is a clear case of suicide. Sonia was suffering from depression following her father's death three months ago,'' duty officer Sachin More of Colaba police station said.
Sonia's younger brother, Hitesh (17), was at home when she took the extreme step. Her mother, Rani, had gone to the hospital for a medical check-up. "The family has ruled out any foul play,'' senior inspector Deepak Vishwasrao said. Her brother, too, had no inkling that Sonia was going to take this drastic step as she appeared normal, officials added. The family was not available for comment.
