MUMBAI: A 1200 mm diameter water pipeline developed a leak at Amar Mahal Junction during ongoing Metro construction work, prompting urgent repairs, the BMC said on Friday.
As part of the repair process, the pipeline will be shut for 24 hours, affecting water supply in several parts of the eastern suburbs and island city.
Residents in the impacted areas have been urged by the civic body to store adequate water in advance and use it judiciously during the supply disruption.
The areas where supply will be partially disrupted include F South ward (Parel, Sewri), F North (Matunga, Sion, Dadar), L ward (Kurla), M East (Govandi, Mankhurd), and M West (Chembur).
“Water supply to the affected areas will remain shut until the work is completed. Once repairs are done, water supply will be gradually restored across the affected areas,” said the civic body in a statement.
