Watch out for fakes carrying massive raids

Carrying out a massive raid, the Mumbai police on Saturday seized 448 fake watches - bearing the names of reputed brands - from shops in Musafirkhana, south Mumbai.
"The costliest were 11 fake IWC watches; the genuine ones would fetch around Rs 5 lakh each,'' said DCP Vishwas Nangre-Patil, who led the raid. The police estimated that the collective market value of the watches was over Rs 10 crore.
The other watches included fake ones that sported labels of Rolex, Cartier, Mont Blanc and Piaget. The MRA Marg police arrested four persons for selling the counterfeit watches and charged them for cheating and violating provisions of the Copyright Act.
