Jaffer is new head coach of Punjab

Mumbai: Former India and Mumbai opener Wasim Jaffer is the new head coach of Punjab. While the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) is yet to formally announce Jaffer’s appointment, PCA secretary Dilsher Khanna confirmed to TOI: “Wasim will be our head coach this season. He brings loads of experience to the table, both as a player and a coach. We won the Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the first time ever last season, and we are looking to build on that success.”Jaffer pipped ex-Australian pacer Shaun Tait for the post. This is the third domestic team that Jaffer would be coaching after Uttarakhand and Orissa as their head coach. The 46-year-old, who was batting coach of Punjab Kings from 2019-2021, will take over his new job from another former Mumbai and India ex-pacer Aavishkar Salvi, who has joined the National Cricket Academy and is currently the bowling coach of the Indian women’s team.

Wasim Jaffer, a former India and Mumbai batsman, has been appointed as the head coach of Punjab. Jaffer, who previously coached Uttarakhand and Orissa and served as Punjab Kings' batting coach, replaces Aavishkar Salvi. Jaffer looks to build on Punjab's previous season's Mushtaq Ali Trophy win and improve their cricketing performance further.

England part ways with white-ball head coach Matthew Mott; Marcus Trescothick to serve as interim head coach

Matthew Mott resigned as England men's white-ball head coach after their semi-final defeat to India in the recent T20 World Cup. Mott, who coached the team since May 2022, led England to the 2022 T20 World Cup victory and various series wins. Former batsman Marcus Trescothick will serve as interim head coach.
