Warrant issued against Abu Salem

mumbai: a special court on monday issued a fresh non-bailable warrant against abu salem abdul qayoom ansari alias abu salem, underworld don and absconding accused in the 1993 serial blasts case. the warrant was issued by designated judge p.d. kode here on a submission made by cbi that efforts made to trace abu salem had turned futile. cbi informed that the warrant issued in 1994 against abu salem had already been forwarded to their counterparts in united arab emirates (uae) but it had not been returned.the investigating agency also informed that abu salem was still untraceable. the judge, however, felt that in the interest of justice it was necessary for cbi to produce abu salem before the court and therefore it would be fit and proper to issue a fresh non-bailable arrest warrant against him.
