Mumbai: An unidentified person stole the wallet of a police constable in mufti from his bag in a bus and withdrew Rs 43,500 using his debit cards last week.
BKC police, who filed an FIR, said constable Bhanudas Nalkande (51) was headed for the armed police force HQ in Kalina as part of Maharashtra Police Sports Competition's security arrangements on April 25. A little after he alighted, he got an SMS that Rs 10,000 had been withdrawn from his bank account. He then learnt that he had lost Rs 43,500 in total. Nalkande checked his bag and found his wallet missing; the PINs for two debit cards were also inside.
An officer said police are checking CCTV footage. TNN
