Bandra police said an FIR has been registered against Kambli under IPC section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) and 504 (insult). He is accused of allegedly throwing handle of a cooking pan on his wife Andrea because of which she suffered head injury. She however said, "The matter is getting sorted out."

The incident occurred between 1 pm and 1.30 pm when Kambli allegedly stepped into his Bandra flat drunk and hurled abuses at his wife. The incident was witnessed by Kambli's 12-year-old son who tried to pacify him.

But he rushed into the kitchen and returned with the pan handle and threw it at his wife. Bandra police said Kambli's wife first got medical treatment at Bhabha Hospital before approaching the cop and filing a case.

TOI is in possession of the FIR. Kambli's mobile was switched off. In the complaint, Kambli's wife Andrea said: "Despite trying to pacify him, he abused me and my son for no reason. He charged at us. After hitting the cooking panhandle, he charged again with a bat. I managed to stop him before leaving with my son, and rushed to the hospital." - V Narayan
