MUMBAI: An FIR has been filed against a 52-year-old Vikhroli resident for allegedly slapping an eight-year-old neighbour multiple times after she rang his doorbell while playing on Wednesday.
Vikhroli police said they have invoked sections of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act against Prakash Ahire and are investigating the case.
According to the police complaint, the child, Dipali, had returned home from school and rang Ahire's doorbell in a playful manner a little later. According to her mother, an irate Ahire then slapped Dipali five times. She said not only did the trauma leave the child in tears but she also ended up soiling her clothes. Her mother immediately confronted Ahire, who is said to have admitted to hitting the girl for ringing his bell and then dismissed the situation, showing no remorse.
The girl's mother later took Dipali to a hospital for treatment as the child began experiencing symptoms of stress, such as tremors in her hands and feet. Following the hospital visit, the mother lodged a complaint with Vikhroli police.
