Mumbai: Opposing the plea made by accused Lt Col Prasad Purohit for in-camera proceedings in the 2008 Malegaon blast trial, the father of one of the blast victims said it was nothing but an attempt to divert the court’s attention and fritter away precious time of the court and resources of the government.
“It should be noted that A-9 (accused number 9, Purohit) has tried to pursue such a course of action on multiple occasions and the court has previously denied such a blanket ban.
“The accused has tendency to file repeated applications despite knowing that, appeal in higher court is proper remedy against any trial court order,” the reply filed by Nisar Ahmed Bilal said. He added that it was clear the application is completely baseless and erroneous and needs to be discarded at the outset. It was further said that the bomb blast took place in Malegaon and the trial was being conducted in faraway Mumbai. “To know what’s happening in the trial court, media is only source as online update of case is yet to get approval of administrations.”
