Vasant Mela, Handloom expo at Navi Mumbai Urban Haat

The Vasant Mela being organized by the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd (CIDCO Ltd) at Belapur Urban Haat will come to an end on March 31 and aNational Handloom Expo by the Ministry of Textiles will begin. The expo will continue till April 14.

MUMBAI: The Vasant Mela being organized by the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd (CIDCO Ltd) at Belapur Urban Haat will come to an end on March 31 and aNational Handloom Expo by the Ministry of Textiles will begin. The expo will continue till April 14.Thereafter Chaitra Mela and Summer Festival will be organized at CIDCO Urban Haat in the month of April and May 2013, respectively.

During this year's Vasant Mela handloom products such as Saris, dress materials, bed sheets, carpets, curtains crafted in latest designs in Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gujarat, Karnataka, Haryana, Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh are being sold in good quantities by the artisans.
In Handicrafts products Bamboo furniture, Cane furniture, Wooden crafts and furniture, terra cotta items and Crafts items have been brought from different states like West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam and Uttar Pradesh are readily available for the consumer to buy. A large variety of leather products such as ladies bags, shoes, leather toys and gents wallets from West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and other states have been brought by the artisans.
Artifi cial jewelleries, ethnic and latest designs from different states have been brought here for display and sales while the food products spread mouth-watering aroma of Malvani Foods, Konkani Foods, Rajasthani and Kolhapuri dishes.
Famous and armature paintings of Aku Jha and other artists from CBD Belapur, Kharghar and Nagpur are attracting the crowd in this event. You can have your live paintings within 1 hour on canvas. Sculpture works of Shree Buddha in different angles and paintings of Shree Ganesh and Shree Budhha are another attractions of this event.
Every Saturday Documentary fi lms by Film Division of India and on every Sunday cultural programs like Maharashtra folk dances, drama are organized in the amphitheatre of CIDCO Urban Haat. Documentary fi lms of Ashok Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, V. Shantaram, Raj Kapoor and Pandit Jashraaj will be screened on 30th March.
The natural beauty of Urban Haat with fountains and delicious dishes from different states are attracting the crowd every weekend. And with CIDCO Urban Haat coming up with everyday Haat, there will be continuous events everyday up till 7th June 2013. Any artisans / SHGs can book a stall in Urban Haat for minimum 10 days and for maximum 30 days by contacting the Manager Urban Haat during offi ce hours.
