The Samaj Mandir Hall in Sion was the venue for the wedding of a young Gujarati couple, Bharatkumar and Divya. The bride’s father Pravin Bhoj told TOI that the family had opted for the Basant Panchami mahurat. “Valentine’s Day just adds to the charm,” he said. The hall’s manager, S B Nadar, was busy attending to the two weddings being held on the day.
Acharya Ravindra Nagar of New Delhi’s Birla Mandir said, “This year, Valentine’s Day makes a wonderful mahurat by the Hindu almanac. Basant Panchami falls on this day and the stars also align into the ‘Sarvarth Siddhi yog’ to bring prosperity. Two auspicious ‘nakshatras’, Ashwini and Revati, occur in a single day, and Thursday brings the blessings of
Brihaspati.”
“We have two weddings, an engagement party and a sangeet today,” said Sunville banquet manager Pradeep Kumar, as he attended to the evening marriage of Omar with Vaishakhi. The morning nuptials were for Hindu Colony resident Gaurav Gadkari who married Prachi.
