Up flights on Go First routes, cool fares: Scindia to airlines

Mumbai/New Delhi: The ministry of civil aviation on Monday instructed domestic carriers to self-monitor airfares on certain routes that have seen considerable surge pricing, especially on routes that were serviced by Go First earlier. civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also advised airlines to add capacity on these routes.
To keep a check on airfare, a mechanism that ensures reasonable pricing within the high Reservation Booking Designators may be devised by airlines, he said adding, “The DGCA will monitor this.”
While international airfares have been at record highs since 2021, now even domestic ticket prices are near all-time highs. For instance, a Delhi-Leh return ticket had risen to Rs 52,000 on budget airlines some days ago.
Speaking about the Odisha train tragedy, Scindia advised airlines to provide free carriage (cargo) services to families of the deceased.
