MUMBAI: Umang, the intercollegiate cultural festival of N. M. College, is in its13th year of festivities and is bigger than ever. "A Mariner's Saga" is the theme for this year and participants can expect to unearth hidden secrets of the world unknown this time at the fest.
Umang has been titled Asia's Fastest Growing Festival and provides a platform for a spectrum of varied forms of arts be it literary arts, fine arts, performing arts, management skills as well as sports.
It entertains a footfall of over 50,000 college students, 8000 participant from over 250 colleges all over India over a span of just four days, since its inception in 2000.
It has become an integral part of the life of collegians all over. Celebrated artists and showbiz personalities such as Carol Gracias,
Arjun Rampal,
Sameera Reddy,
John Abraham,
Deepika Padukone,
Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh,
Imraan Khan, Vinay Pathak, Prateik Babbar,
Ranveer Singh as well as performers such as Parikrama, Shaa'ir n Func, Strings,
Shaan,
Kailash Kher and Suraj Jagan have graced the
Umang red carpet. Also, former president APJ
Abdul Kalam addressed an enthused crowd at
Umang 2008.
The event will be held at various venues in and around the college between August 19 and 22 this year.
