MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena should get its “just and legitimate” share of berths in the Union

, said party chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday. “We are not going to be at anyone’s mercy,” Thackeray told mediapersons. Prime Minister Modi has planned the expansion of his ministerial team on Tuesday, but there were no signals from the BJP on the induction of Sena politicians.

The Sena wants a cabinet-rank portfolio and a minister of state (MoS) at the Centre, or two MoS’s with independent charge. Sources said that while the BJP seems to be in no mood to accept the Sena proposal, CM Fadnavis was keen on placating the Sena. Fadnavis, who is in New Delhi, held talks with BJP chief Amit Shah on the issue.

The Sena is learnt to have chosen MP Anil Desai for a cabinet position if it is given one. “Earlier, we were given MoS. We turned down the offer. We wanted a cabinet rank post. The Sena will not go to anyone’s doorstep,” Thackeray said.
