Two submit fake caste cert, booked

MUMBAI: The Sion police booked a man and his daughter who allegedly submitted a bogus caste certificate and completed her MBBS from Sion medical college. They were booked for cheating, forgery and breach of trust.

The accused were booked after the Nashik caste verification committee gave their finding that it had not issued the caste certificate to that particular student.

A complainant was lodged by a doctor and a social worker who has brought to light many cases of admissions or jobs obtained in various fields on the basis of fake caste certificates by adopting illegal means. Police said that according to the complaint the accused took admission at Sion medical college in 2016 and cleared her MBBS in 2021. She came under the probe after the results were out recently.
