Two persons were injured, after a portion of a ground plus three storeyed vacated building, which was being demolished, fell on two auto-rickshaws, plying on the road, at Nensey Colony in Borivali East at around 2.30 pm on Saturday. According to BMC officials, the building in question was in C-1 category and the incident took place, when it was being demolished.
“The Mahindra building was being demolished as it is being redeveloped. According to locals, they had warned the two auto rickshaw drivers to stop and not to pass through the lane. However, while the auto rickshaw drivers ignored the locals and a portion of the building debris fell on the rickshaws, while they were plying on the road, thereby injuring the drivers. The injured drivers were shifted to the hospital by the locals even before we reached the spot,” said a fire brigade official. Of the two autorickshaw drivers, Ravikumar Rana, (45) suffered injuries to head, chin and right hand, while Suman Shukla, (34) suffered injuries to the back and knees. Both have been admitted to Shrikrishna hospital and are undergoing treatment.
