MUMBAI: The Juhu police is likely to close the investigations into the suicide of TV actress Kuljeet Randhawa (29), this week, with no firm grounds to continue the probe. An officer heading the investigation said statements of nearly 16 persons have been recorded in connection with the case. Randhawa, a close friend of the late model Nafisa Joseph, had committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan of her Juhu flat on Wednesday.
Her boyfriend, Bhanu Uday, was away in Jammu at the time of the incident, and hasn't returned to Mumbai so far.
Said an officer, "It seems Uday is afraid of police questioning and is not coming to Mumbai. He should have come to the city by this time since recording his statement is necessary." Randhawa's parents have told the police that they don't suspect any kind of foul play in this case. "The family member in their statement have told the police that they don't think anyone has abetted the suicide," an officer said......However, police said Uday, who according to Randhawa's friends and relatives was in love with her, should have come to the police station as a matter of procedure."Randhawa had sent two SMSes to Uday on the day of her suicide expressing her affection and love for him," an officer said. The Juhu police which has registered the case as an 'accidental death' said though it was caused by unnatural circumstances, there was hardly any ground to continue investigations as Randhawa had not blamed anyone for her suicide.
