On Monday, they welcomed the decision by Madhya Pradesh to remove all 47 checkposts in that state, including five between Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. “The removal has led to significant improvements in logistics, efficiency and cost savings,” said Bal Malkit Singh of All India Motor Transport Congress.

He further said transporters have been requesting the Maharashtra government to take similar measures for all Maharashtra border check posts (with neighbouring states) for the past two years. “If no positive steps are taken, we may have to consider more drastic measures, including the total stoppage of movements to the state of Maharashtra," he said in a media statement on Monday.

"Removal of check posts will ensure faster movement of trucks inter-state and reduce the harassment by officials," said Abhishek Gupta from All India Transporters Welfare Association. Another transporter alleged that check posts led to corruption.

AIMTC has scheduled a crucial managing committee meeting on July 9 to decide the next course of action. Any disruption in transportation services to Maharashtra could have wide-reaching effects on businesses and consumers alike. “The AIMTC remains hopeful that the Maharashtra state government will take prompt and positive action to address this long-standing issue and avoid any disruption in the movement of goods and services,” Singh added.
