Trader conned of Rs 5 lakh by ‘tout’

Mumbai: A 22-year-old man duped a Nalasopara trader of Rs 5 lakh by promising to get old currency notes exchanged. Sanjay Jain filed a complaint with Virar police on Tuesday after searching for Vikas Jha for five days.
According to police, Jha, who claimed to be a resident of Suram Park, Virar (east), approached Jain on November 16 offering to get old notes exchanged with the help of the manager of a cooperative bank.Jain handed over Rs 25,000 in old notes to Jha, who returned with Rs 2,000 notes within hours.
The next day, Jain and his brother Dilip gave Jha Rs 5 lakh. Jha told them to wait till he returned with the new notes, and vanished.
