Three-year-old crushed by private bus in Bhayander

A three-year-old playing outside her shanty in Bhayander was crushed to death when the driver of a private bus lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the hut.

MUMBAI: A three-year-old playing outside her shanty in Bhayander was crushed to death when the driver of a private bus lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the hut on Sunday. The driver has been arrested.
The accident took place on the Radhaswami Satsang Maidan, Bhayander (west) at around 10 am. Eye-witnesses said that the driver was speeding and lost control of the vehicle at a sharp curve.

He jumped the divider and hit a stationery car. He then hit the tin sheets covering the ground and crashed into a stationery car. He then hit the tin sheets covering the ground and crashed into a hutment in the midst of thick trees.
Akshta Singh, who was playing outside came underneath the bus and died on the spot. The bus was precariously hanging and the driver managed to get out of the vehicle. He was caught by locals and handed over to the Bhayander police.
A junior kindergarten student, Singh’s body was taken for autopsy and handed over to the family later. The driver has been send for medical examination to test for alcohol.
A case of causing death by negligent driving has been registered against the driver. He will be produced in court on Monday.
