Teltumbde has been behind bars since April 2020 in the case where he and other others are charged with being alleged Maoists and under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

told the HC bench of Justices S B Shukre and G A Sanap, which began hearing the bail plea. Desai said the trial is unli-kely to start soon as National Investigation Agency has filed an additional 3,000-page chargesheet on Tuesday and Supreme Court has observed that bail may be granted in cases where trial will take long. HC will continue the hearing on Thursday. —Swati Deshpande
