case before the Bombay high court for a bail hearing on Wednesday. Teltumbde has been behind bars since April 2020 in the case where he and other others are charged with being alleged Maoists and under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.Teltumbde is an accomplished academic who has been to IIT-Kharagpur for postgraduation, has reached the “zenith of his career” in public sector undertakings, has written books on caste issues and is an activist for democratic rights,Desai
told the HC bench of Justices S B Shukre and G A Sanap, which began hearing the bail plea. Desai said the trial is unli-kely to start soon as National Investigation Agency has filed an additional 3,000-page chargesheet on Tuesday and Supreme Court has observed that bail may be granted in cases where trial will take long.
