MUMBAI: After killing a UP-based farmer near LTT on March 18, the accused-two teenagers, aged 18 and 13-went towards BKC and robbed a pedestrian of his mobile worth Rs 40,000 before heading back to their Govandi home, said the police. The duo-Mohammed Sadiq (18) and his minor accomplice-went back home and confided in their friend whose bike they had used in the offence, revealed an officer.
The Vinoba Bhave Nagar police, that has taken over the case from the crime branch, are finding out if any robbery case was registered in BKC on March 18. The police said the accused left their homes around 3am on their friend's bike under the pretext of going to a shrine but instead went to LTT and stabbed farmer Rama Yadav (22) around 5am while snatching his bag. "The duo confessed that they fled the spot and headed to BKC where they robbed a pedestrian around 6am. On returning home, the duo ate the sweets found in the LTT victim's bag," said Mumbai Crime Branch's DCP Dilip Sawant.
Yadav, a farmer, had arrived in Mumbai on February 26 to take his ailing brother and mother, who is down with typhoid, back to their village. "But Yadav's brother and mother had confirmed tickets for March 19 and he got a unreserved ticket for March 18. The police reached the spot after receiving a call from the control room. Yadav's family left Mumbai on March 19 after cremating his body," said Khot.
The police have sought CCTV cameras between Kurla depot and SCLR, towards Chedda Nagar and Amar Mahal.
