Teenager commits suicide at Goregaon East

A 16-year-old girl committed suicide at her Goregaon East residence on Monday afternoon. No suicide note was found and the cops are clueless about the the motive so far.

MUMBAI: A 16-year-old girl committed suicide at her Goregaon East residence on Monday afternoon. No suicide note was found and the cops are clueless about the the motive so far.The deceased, Hasina Shaikh, resided at Squatters' Colony with her mother and grandmother. She hanged herself from the ceiling fan using a dupatta. The police were informed about the incident at 4.30 pm. "Hasina's 80-year-old grandmother, who is bed-ridden, was present in the same room when the teenager hanged herself. The neighbours later saw the door wide open and spotted Hasina hanging from the fan. They brought her down and informed the police control room," said an officer from Vanrai police station. Hasina was rushed to the Bhagwati hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Neighbours told the police that Hasina was hot tempered and would lose her cool over petty issues. She wasn't enrolled in any school at present.Hasina's father works at a garage and had married twice. He resides with his second wife in the same neighbourhood. The police are questioning him to for more information. A case of accidental death has been registered.
