MUMBAI: Like most 13-year-old girls on the threshold of youth, little Sulagna of Vapi, Gujarat, is fashion conscious. Her cherished dream is to have a 'princess dress' and tiara designed for her by none other than Manish Malhotra. On Sunday, that desire will come true.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation India, an NGO that works to fulfil the dying wish of ailing children, has made it possible.
Sulagna is currently in Mumbai to seek treatment for a life-threatening illness.
The nonprofit has sought public support to grant 100 requests to coincide with World Wish Day April 29. The Indian affiliate of Make-A-Wish International has organised week-long celebrations that include charity events and awareness programmes.
On April 27 a musical play by Sunil Shanbag and Shubha Mudgal named 'Stories of a Song' will be staged. Unlike theatre that makes use of music, this narrative takes the help of theatre to relate stories about musical forms such as kajri, thumri, dadra, khayal, even remixes. Actor John Abraham will attend the event.
Make-A-Wish is dedicated to granting the most cherished wish of children aged 3-18 who live with life-threatening illnesses. It helps irrespective of socio-economic status, race or religion. The Indian affiliate was established in 1996 and has fulfilled over 22,000 wishes across its 10 divisions'', says founder Uday Joshi.
