MUMBAI: On Monday signatures of invigilators across schools and colleges were obtained to participate in the strike, but late in the night the teachers decided to go ahead with exam supervision while not taking part in the ongoing assessment of HSC and SSC answer booklets.

While there is no SSC paper on Tuesday, Class 12 students who have opted for bifocal courses have papers at 11am and 3pm. “Teachers will not assess answer scripts,” Mukund Andhalkar, convenor of the Maharashtra State Federation of Junior College Teachers Organisation, said.

Teachers had boycotted the HSC assessment from February 21 to press for various demands, including recruitment. They had called off their boycott on March 2 after assurances from the state. Unions had then communicated to the state about participating in the indefinite strike.
