Tales of courage mark Founder’s Day of Indian Cancer Society

Cancer survivor and South Indian actor, Gautami Tadimalla, was the guest of honour. She talked about another cancer survivor who was diagnosed with multiple forms of cancer. “I told her to remain positive and not to give up till she is alive. And after a long struggle with cancer, she survived. When I meet her now she always tell me that that the one thing that made all the difference was the fact that she started to believe.”
The ICS was founded by oncologist, Dr D J Jussawalla and Naval Tata in 1951. The objective was to spread awareness, detection, and providing cure and treatment for cancer patients in India.
“We have touched the lives of many people and are trying to improve literacy on cancer and spread awareness among people to go for regular checkups, because cancer treatment is more effective when detected early,” said Sheila Nair, director general, ICS.
Air Marshal Deo said that its heartening to see people battling cancer and still enjoying life. “All our problems seems small when we see them,” he signed off.
