Mumbai: After a few uncertain days of not having a junior college seat inspite of scoring 99.8% in SSC, the family of the Ulhasnagar resident Sakshi Rajwani completed the admission process at Vaze Kelkar College in Mulund.
TOI had reported that Rajwani, a student of Sacred Heart School, Kalyan had not been al lotted a college in the first merit list despite her almost perfect score. Education officials found that the student's form was reset on June 16 and never filled after that due to which she was out of the process. This meant she would have to wait till the end of the online process to apply for a seat. Her first choice was Vaze Kelkar college in Mulund.
Soon after media reports, education minister Vinod Tawde took cognisance of the issue and instructed the edu cation department to help her get a seat at a college of choice. On Tuesday, she, along with her parents, visi ted the Vaze College, the first on her list of preferences and completed the admission process for a seat in the commerce stream. "I am glad I got my choice of college and subjects inspite of the trouble with the online form," she said.
While the college initially did not have a seat to offer in the management quota, they had assured to accommodate her."One of the students who had taken admission in the management quota got a seat through the general merit list so we had a vacancy which we were happy to offer to her," said Vidyadhar Joshi, vice-principal.
However, education officials said students must be careful during form submission."The system has sent out messages of a form reset. Students need to be responsible, and if they spot anything unusual, they must bring it to the notice of the school or officials," said deputy director of education, B B Chavan.
