In November 2021, the victim, a resident of Borivli, had invested Rs 1.75 lakh with the accused.

When things didn't work out, the victim and his business partners decided not to invest any more, but the accused was seeking Rs 11 lakh more from them to keep the business transactions going.

On Thursday, the victim had gone to a restaurant near Borivli. The accused allegedly dragged him into a car and took him to a lawyer’s office and allegedly forced him to sign some papers.

The accused and his accomplices held the victim hostage and called up his partners demanding Rs 11 lakh, police said.
