MUMBAI: NCB busted a drug trafficking syndicate operational in Dongri and arrested three people, including a woman and a 63-year-old man with 20kg of mephedrone or MD worth Rs 50 crore and Rs 1.10 crore.
NCB arrested Ashiq Ali (40), a native of Uttar Pradesh, Nasir Khan (63) and Alfia Faisal Shaikh (34) from Dongri. What has baffled the NCB is that the accused were running the drug peddling using a woman and senior citizen whose search resulted in cash and gold ornaments amassed from financial proceeds of the drug money.
With initial information of a drug syndicate from Dongri, surveillance was mounted on Nasir Khan from Dongri led to the conclusion about being part of a larger syndicate. This led the officials to the other two accused - the woman and the younger man, said the officials.
