Spurned youth who stabbed woman held

MUMBAI: Bhandup police arrested a 27-year-old man who had allegedly stabbed his 26-year-old neighbour last week and then attempted suicide. “She sustained intestinal injuries, while he had abdominal injuries,” said deputy commissioner of police (zone VI) Sachin Patil.
Police arrested Akash Pandey after he was discharged from Sion hospital on Saturday and booked him for attempt to murder.Pandey, who is employed with a private company, wanted to marry his neighbour, but her family rejected his proposal, said the police. On July 8, Pandey barged into the woman’s house, stabbed her with a knife even as her family watched and then stabbed himself. Her family members rushed them to hospital. tnn
