Singer assaulted by son's in-law dies

MUMBAI: Singer Ahmad Mirza, who was allegedly assaulted by his son's father-in-law, Dilawar Khan (58), following a heated argument during a drinking session on Wednesday succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
The Mira Road police has filed a case of murder against Khan, who runs a private security agency in Bhiwandi. “Khan is absconding and we have launched a manhunt for him,“ said inspector Vasant Labde.
On Wednesday night, Mirza who stays at Beverly Park with his wife was having drinks with Khan in his SUV. Police said that the two got into an argument over Mirza' son. In a fit of anger, Khan lifted a liquor bottle and hit Mirza on his head.
A profusely bleeding Mirza was taken to the nearby hospital where he died on Friday. His body was flown to Hyderabad for final rites. Mirza has sung songs for some Bollywood films.
