Silver lining: Nearly 1,500 elders take to streets in Tata Mumbai Marathon

With dispositions as su-nny as their yellow T-shirts, 1,423 senior citizens merrily made their way across the 4.2 km stretch from CSMT to the finish line near Metro Cinema.

Age is just a number, nothing can stop the enthusiastic senior citizen, even the cold weather, to complete the finish line of the marathon.
MUMBAI: With dispositions as su-nny as their yellow T-shirts, 1,423 senior citizens merrily made their way across the 4.2 km stretch from CSMT to the finish line near Metro Cinema.
Believed to be the oldest person at the event, 91-year-old Yashwant Thakare travelled from Panvel to participate in the run. He was facilitated with a trophy.
Many broke into a dance along the way, with one 65-year-old man dancing solo, while another group close to him did garba and were joined by their younger counterparts who had finished their races.

"We have lived our lives to the fullest and intend to continue doing so even in our twilight years. We stay fit and active by walking everyday and love dancing," said a 75-year-old woman. Age is just a number, nothing can stop the enthusiastic senior citizen, even the cold weather, to complete the finish line of the marathon.
While most donned the T-shirts they were given, for mother of two, Charkop resident Bharti Pathak (80) brisk walking in a saree albeit with her blue sneakers put her most at ease. She said she learnt about the event from her grandson-in-law and signed up.
