NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) on Saturday expelled three key office bearers in Ratnagiri district for alleged anti-party activities. According to a party letter, Rajendra Mahadik (deputy incharge of Ratnagiri), Vilas Chalke (district chief), and Rohan Bane (Sangameshwar Chiplun Assembly in-charge) have been removed from their positions.
The action follows heightened political tensions within the party, as senior leader Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday intensified his attack on Maharashtra deputy CM Eknath Shinde, accusing him of not only splitting Shiv Sena but also damaging Maharashtra’s industrial growth.
As part of efforts to strengthen the opposition alliance, Thackeray recently met Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs Arvind Sawant and Priyanka Chaturvedi, along with AAP MP Sanjay Singh, accompanied him during the meeting with Kejriwal.
Thackeray raised concerns over alleged voter name deletions and the fairness of elections. "Governments come and go, but our relationship will remain. The people of Delhi know the work Kejriwal has done in the last 10 years. However, elections in our democracy are no longer free and fair," he stated.
Thackeray's remarks come after the BJP secured a historic win in the Delhi Assembly polls, returning to power after 27 years. The party won 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP’s tally plummeted from 62 to 22.
