5 expelled by Sena UBT for anti-party acts

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday expelled five party functionaries for anti-party activities. These include ex-MLA Rupesh Mhatre, Vishwas Nandekar, Chandrakant Ghugul, Sanjay Awari, and Prasad Thakre.

Mhatre filed his nomination as an independent from Bhiwandi East. Here, Samajwadi Party's sitting MLA Rais Shaikh is MVA's candidate. However, on the last day to withdraw nomination, he pulled out of the fray. Vishwas Nandekar, district head of Wani in Yavatmal, Chandrakant Ghugul from Zari, Sanjay Awari from Maregaon, and Prasad Thakre from Wani were expelled, said Sena (UBT) central office.
