MUMBAI: A day after the state home minister Anil Deshmukh accepted that the lapses in gelatine vehicle case and businessman Mansukh Hiren’s death case led to Mumbai police commissioner Parambir Singh’s transfer, Shiv Sena backed Singh and justified his transfer, stating that his transfer does not mean that he is guilty.
Sena also stated that a particular lobby in Delhi is annoyed at Singh because of certain reasons and as he opened the TRP case file during his tenure.

Shiv Sena while criticising the opposition BJP on Friday, in the editorial of the party mouthpiece, Saamna, stated that opposition party raised question on a political boss behind Mansukh Hiren's death, which they should find out. However, there are no political bosses in such cases, stated Sena. “The major reshuffle in the Mumbai and state police force has been done in specific circumstances with an intention of not to spare the culprit, in case if it is a murder or if it is a suicide, then to find out the motive behind it. Opposition should believe this,” said Saamna.
The newspaper further stated that the transfer of Parambir Singh does not mean he is a guilty. Singh took over as commissioner of police in a very difficult period (Covid-19 pandemic). Singh encouraged the police force to fight against Covid and kept visiting the one of the crucial hotspot areas like Dharavi on his own. He also boosted the morale of the police during the Sushant Singh Rajput and Kangana case hence even a CBI probe could not reveal more than the Mumbai police investigation. “TRP case also opened during Parambir Singh’s tenure and a lobby in Delhi was annoyed at him because of these reasons,” said Sena mouthpiece.
On Wednesday, Singh was transferred and appointed as director-general home guard, considered to be a punishment posting.
