The court stated that it did not possess the inherent powers to halt the broadcast.

The CBI filed an application on Saturday, requesting that the series not be aired on any platform until the conclusion of the ongoing trial.

The documentary, titled "The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth," is scheduled to be released on Netflix on February 23.

Arrested in 2015, Indrani was granted bail in 2022. Since her release, she has also authored and published a book. On the streaming platform, the series is categorized as a documentary.

The series trailer features the accused Indrani Mukerjea, Sheena's mother, and her other children—Mikhael Bora and Vidhie Mukerjea. Mikhael had testified during the trial.

However, in December 2023, the CBI submitted a list of 23 witnesses who would not be examined in the trial. Notably, Vidhie, the daughter of Indrani and Khanna, was not named by the CBI in this list.

Among those on the CBI’s "list of unrelied witnesses" is former city police commissioner Rakesh Maria. During the city police investigation, Maria was appointed as director general (home guards), and the case was subsequently transferred to the CBI.
