See if kin of Badlapur sexual assault accused face threat: HC to cops
Mumbai: Bombay high court on Thursday directed the state to evaluate within a week the threat perception to the parents of the deceased accused in the Badlapur school sexual assault case."You find out if there is any threat perception looming large even today. If that is so, then you may take a call on whether to give police protection, irrespective of the fact whether they are living in Badlapur or somewhere else," said Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Prithviraj Chavan. On Tuesday, after public prosecutor Hiten Venegavkar said the parents had refused police protection, the judges directed that they remain present. The couple denied refusing police protection. They were living on a footpath in another place after a bank sealed their home in Badlapur over non-payment of a loan they had taken for their son's marriage. They had housekeeping jobs but are now jobless and seeking alms. Venegavkar said that they fear they won't get jobs if a police officer is with them. The judges said the couple are not the accused and "should not be punished". They asked Venegavkar if they can be rehabilitated somewhere else with the help of the government or an NGO which "understands the reality..." "Let them stand on their feet," said Justice Chavan.Mumbai: Bombay high court on Thursday directed the state to evaluate within a week the threat perception to the parents of the deceased accused in the Badlapur school sexual assault case."You find out if there is any threat perception looming large even today.
