Season 8, India’s largest spelling competition.

Mumbai is one of 30 cities in which the semi-finals were conducted. In the initial phase, children from across 74 schools in the city were given spelling tests. The top 15 scorers from each school then competed in the city finals. The top performers from the city finals competed at the semi-final stage of the competition. They were given an online test.

The finals, where Aditya Gupta will now compete with other school-goers, will see a stiff competition between the top 16 scorers across various cities in India to win the title of Classmate Spell Bee Season 8’s national champion. The all-India finals will be telecast on The Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids and Discovery Tamil.

Classmate, one of India’s leading notebook brands by ITC, and Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM launched Season 8 of Classmate Spell Bee three months ago.

The national champion of Classmate Spell Bee Season 8 will win a grand prize of Rs 2 lakh, and get an opportunity to witness the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee with a parent in Washington D.C. in an all-expenses-paid trip.
