MUMBAI: State NCP president Jayant Patil on Tuesday said that from the
Supreme Court verdict on Uddhav Thackeray's plea for a stay on the proceedings before the Election Commission, it appears that the Election Commission will deliver its order after hearing both sides.
"After hearing leading advocates for almost the whole day, the Supreme Court has referred the cases between the real Shiv Sena and the Shinde faction to the Election Commission.
It has rejected the Shiv Sena's plea, but the decision is not final. Prima facie, the Supreme Court expects that the EC will hear the views of contesting parties and deliver its order. It will be too early to comment on the likely verdict of the EC," Patil said.
Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe alleged that the Shinde government was unconstitutional. "SC has ruled that EC will take a decision on party symbol, but it is unlikely to benefit the Shinde faction. The row over disqualification of 16 legislators is still pending before apex court," he said.
