In the Malabar Hill segment, Sawant polled 99,269 or 67.8% of the total 1.5 lakh votes compared with his opponent Milind Deora of the Congress who cornered just 40,700 or 27.8%.

Industrialist Mukesh Ambani, who is a part of the assembly segment, had endorsed Deora’s candidature. In a recent video, Ambani had said that Deora had “in-depth knowledge of the social, economic, and cultural ecosystem” of South Mumbai.
