MUMBAI: After opposing the school management's decision to hike fees, Mangesh Kadam tried his best last year to get his kids' re-admission approved. But two months later he decided to admit his 10-year-old twins to another school. "I didn't know where else to go. The school education department has been drafting fee hike rules but I don't see them taking form any time soon," he said.
The HC order allowing private schools to hike fees has not gone down well.
"We can't complain as random hikes have been legalised," said Aastha Kumar, mother of a 12-year-old student. "We agree schools need to cover expenses on their own. All we want is a transparent system where everybody knows where their money is going," said Sushil Sinha, whose son is at Billabong High.
