Put Mumbai power suppliers under CAG lens, says AAP
MUMBAI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday demanded a CAG audit of the functioning of all power distribution companies in the city over the past 15 years.
“We feel that consumers are paying huge tariffs and those in the residential categories are burdened with several additional charges, including regulatory asset charges [past recoveries for losses accrued], cross subsidy surcharge and wheeling charge,” AAP state media secretary Ruben Mascarenhas said at a press conference.

AAP volunteers led by city convenor Mayank Jain have petitioned CM Devendra Fadnavis and are to meet him soon. “If he fails to announce a CAG audit..., our party will launch a massive agitation,” Jain said.
He stated there would be a door-to-door campaign by AAP and power consumers.
Distribution companies say that the tariff and the charges were approved by MERC, the state regulatory body, after a series of public hearings.
